About the Artist

Linda Michele Lutzai
"Truth exists for the wise, beauty for the feeling heart." - Friedrich Schiller
At an early age, Poughkeepsie NY based artist, Linda Michele Lutzai, began the study of classical arts. This included drawing and painting, piano and organ, and dance. While receiving formal training in music and ballet, her drawing education came from her father, a cartoonist and design engineer. He encouraged Linda to pursue the art forms he was well versed in, though she found much of her time spent in the dance studio. This eventually led to being a full scholarship college student for ballet. Upon graduating, Linda headed to New York and embarked on a career as a professional ballerina. While spending nearly two decades in NYC's dance studios, on stage and on tour abroad, she continued independently the study of fine arts. When she had time, Linda found herself in front of the canvas and even created several commissioned works as well. The longing to capture beauty in permanent form was ever present.
Through Linda's experience as a professional ballerina, she aims to infuse her still life paintings with the drama live theater evokes. Under the mentorship of master painter and teacher Todd M. Casey, the journey she had begun with her father has developed into a calling. Through her passions of painting, combined with music and dance, Linda has found an avenue to create beauty through the classical arts.
Linda has been selected to participate in several juried exhibitions with organizations such as the International Art Renewal Center, the American Artists Professional League, the Whistler House Museum of Art, the Hudson Valley Art Association, the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, American Women Artists, the Salmagundi Club, Oil Painters of America, and the National Oil and Acrylic Painters’ Society.
When Linda is not in the art studio, you can either find her teaching aspiring young dancers or playing classical guitar. She paints and lives in Poughkeepsie, New York, with her husband Alfred and their two beloved miniature dachshunds, Romeo and Perseus.
